RealWorld Systems has qualified for several Vendor of Record and Supply Arrangements in the Governments of Ontario and Canada for various aspects of business process improvement and organizational development.
Following is a list of some of the services we are qualified to deliver:
Designing Information Systems
RealWorld Systems uses a variety of methodologies to develop performance management systems that promote organizational effectiveness.
We help organizations identify requirements for management systems based on their strategic objectives and an analysis of the needs of their key stakeholders (staff, clients/customers, funders). Then we help them work with their preferred programmers or internal staff to create the system or manage the development ourselves, depending on their needs.
Most information systems, including web sites, are poorly designed from the perspective of the users. For example, usability studies generally show that less than half of potential visitors manage to accomplish a simple task on an average web site. To address this problem, RealWorld Systems uses project management processes based on tested standards for software development and robust methods for usability analysis.
Examples of projects we have undertaken in this area include an intranet for Frontier College, a web strategy study for OneStep, a streamlined allocations process for the Woods Fund of Chicago, and a collaborative research site for the New Investigators Network at CIAR.
Business Metrics and Performance Management Services
We develop practical and useful evaluation frameworks to enable organizations to track and improve their own performance. Performance management services are the interaction of people, processes and technologies required to plan, implement, monitor and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of clients, their internal units and their individual staff.
Measurement of performance and related metrics are important factors in assessing the quality and effectiveness of a government initiatives. Specifically, metrics associated with pre- and post- “service improvement” initiatives are becoming increasingly important in the contracting arena where the ability to substantiate “tangible benefits” can have a significant impact on the value of a contract.
Performance management services include:
Performing analysis on existing performance management programs to identify improvements, which could benefit the organization and its teams
Establishing an integrated performance management system to measure IT and business performance Evaluating current business performance measures to ensure that they reflect structural business drivers
Evaluating performance measurement needs and advising on the selection of performance management software
Performing a readiness assessment on individual programs to determine their level of readiness for delivery, such as the availability of the necessary administrative (e.g. financial) systems and the availability of related audit and operational process integrity functions, or the availability of the people and skills necessary to deploy and support program content.
Defining the process and business interface between the program environment and the broader corporate environment by mapping business rules against the requirements of the program.
